What a day of appointments leaves behind
A veterinary clinic collects a different kind of dirt from an office. Hair drifts into corners and under the benches, paws carry grit and rainwater in from the parking lot, and noses press against every pane of glass below knee height. Nervous patients have accidents in the lobby and on the scale, and by closing time each exam room has seen a full day of visits.
Animal care in Vallejo ranges from small-animal practices in neighborhood shopping centers to freestanding animal hospitals that add surgery, boarding and overnight care. Each one gets a visit list written around its own rooms and carried out once the last client has gone home.
Lobby, scale and check-in
Pet owners decide whether a clinic feels clean while they wait, so the route opens in the lobby. Crews vacuum hair out of seat seams and from beneath the benches, wipe the low glass on doors and partitions where noses and paws land, and clean the pet scale, from its rubber top to the tile at its edges. The check-in counter, card reader, door push plates and the shelves of food and leashes are wiped down, and the entry mat is vacuumed before the lobby floor gets mopped last, working out toward the exit.
Where cats and dogs wait on opposite sides of the lobby, both sides get the same care, with fresh mop water for each so neither is tracked into the other.
Exam and surgery rooms by your written steps
Clinical rooms follow the steps your practice sets down: the cleaner your team picks for each surface, the room order, and anything the crew should not touch. Exam tables, lift tables, counters, cabinet fronts, stools and door handles are worked in that order, and the floor comes last. Every disinfectant is an EPA-registered product, and nobody wipes a surface until the product has sat through its label dwell time.
When the surgery suite or the dental station is due for a top-to-bottom terminal clean, book it as its own visit and the crew takes the room from light fixtures and walls down to carts and floor that night. Crews assigned to a clinic are bloodborne-pathogen trained before their first night, and their HIPAA-aware conduct means client records, appointment screens and the files at the desk stay unread and untouched.
Wards, boarding rooms and runs
Wards and boarding rooms are where the floors and walls work hardest. Once staff have moved the animals or a run sits empty, crews scrub the floor, wash the lower walls and kennel fronts, pull hair from the floor drains and squeegee the room so it dries quickly. Bathing tubs and grooming tables are scrubbed on the same pass at clinics that offer baths or grooming.
Where pets stay overnight, the practice tells the crew which wards are occupied. Those rooms are left until the staff on duty say they are ready, and the crew keeps voices and equipment low around them.
Break room, offices and restrooms
The rooms that keep the staff going get their own place on the list. Break room sinks, microwaves and tables are cleaned, the doctors’ office and business office are dusted and vacuumed, and every bin is emptied, recycling included. Restrooms are scrubbed and restocked with paper towels, toilet paper, liners and hand soap, either from our supplies or from the clinic’s stockroom.
Supply rooms and storage closets have their floors swept and mopped and their shelves dusted on a weekly rotation, so dust and hair never build up behind the gauze and towels.
Floors that hold up to claws and water
Clinic floors are often sheet vinyl, sealed concrete or VCT, and each of them dulls under claws, wheeled carts and constant mopping. Nightly mopping keeps the surface clean, while periodic machine scrubbing reaches the film that settles into the grain and along the cove base, where a stale smell tends to linger. Hallways laid in VCT can be stripped and refinished on a slow night, and restroom tile and grout can be deep scrubbed. Our floor care service puts those jobs on a calendar of their own.
Timing, daytime help and getting started
Evening visits after the final appointment leave the exam rooms ready for the morning’s first appointment. Extended-hours and emergency hospitals can split the visit, covering the lobby and offices while the clinic is open and saving the clinical rooms for a quieter stretch. When the waiting room needs attention during clinic hours, a day porter handles spills, accidents and restroom checks between appointments.
The quickest way to set up service is to share the cleaning protocol your clinic already uses, along with a room list and your closing time. We walk the building with the practice manager, mark which rooms run on protocol steps and which are general space, and come back with a written schedule and quote. Background checks cover everyone on the crew, a supervisor’s inspection rounds keep the checklist honest, and your office manager has our certificate of insurance on file from day one.
A few useful answers
Common questions.
Can your crew follow the cleaning steps our clinic already has in writing?
Yes. Hand the protocol to us at the walkthrough and it becomes the checklist for every exam and procedure room, with your products, your room order and your list of surfaces.
Can the surgery room be put on a terminal-clean rotation?
Yes. Set it on a fixed rotation or call for one whenever your team needs it, and it runs as a separate visit. The crew takes the room from the light fixtures to the floor that night and leaves it ready for the next surgery day.
We board animals overnight. Does that change the visit?
It changes the order. The lobby, exam rooms and offices are done first, and occupied wards are cleaned last, quietly, once your overnight staff give the go-ahead.
What do crews use on exam tables and counters?
EPA-registered disinfectants, or the products your practice names in its protocol, and each product gets its full label dwell time on the table or counter before the crew wipes it off.
Can someone handle accidents in the lobby while we are open?
Yes, with a day porter. The porter stays on site during the hours you choose, cleaning up lobby accidents, keeping the scale area tidy and checking the restrooms between appointments.
